S. A. Fred has been releasing music on the Internet since 1998. He is probably best known for his “Ambient Drum & Bass” tracks which first surfaced on MP3.com. Inspired by such diverse artists as Vangelis, Autechre, FSOL, DJ Shadow, Tangerine Dream, and Kraftwerk, his music explores many genres. He is self confessed old school “Analogue” head, stuck in a late 70’s, early 80’s time warp, obsessed with detuned sound, ring modulation, blips and squelches.
Experimenting with Drum & Bass, Trip Hop, IDM, and whatever else inspires, his sound is best described as a rich multilayered ambient environment with beats.
